Accusations of fraternity related sexual assaults at CSU San Marcos spark investigation and student protest

CSU San Marcos is undertaking an investigation of sexual assault and "date rape" accusations involving members of a fraternity that lost its recognition as a campus organization in 2005, according to NBC Channel 13 San Diego

The first complaint was received in May by campus police, and other allegations followed. Most of the members of Tau Kappa Epsilon (aka, "The Kollege Experience") are students at the University.

NBC news reported that:

"The university warns students to take precautions, especially if attending TKE-related events or parties. Officials said students should protect themselves from falling prey to date rape drugs by keeping a vigilant eye on their drinks at parties and pouring their own drinks."

On campus, a group of students rallied in protest against date rape and sexual assault after the University issued an alert under the "Timely Notice" provisions of the Clery Act, according to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune.
